Here’s a few regularly-asked questions regarding swimming pools and filtration types.
1. Why You should use filtration for swimming pools?
The filtration system for the swimming pool is a very important piece of equipment. When You select one, look for one that’s more powerful than recommended for your swimming pool size.
2. Which type of filtration You should use – sand or cartridge?
It is always better to use sand filtration for permanent in-ground swimming pools. For dismountable pools, filtration systems with cartridges can be used.
3. How powerful should the be filtration system for your swimming pool?
The pool water should pass through the filtration system at least twice a day with a cycle time that should not exceed 4-5 hours. When selecting the system, you should consider the amount of water in the pool and the performance of the filter. It is preferable to slightly oversize the filter.
4. How often should be filtration system operating during a day?
If the dimension calculation is done correctly, filtration should not run longer than 8 hours each day.
5. Stainless steel in saltwater-treated pool.
It is generally not recommended to use stainless steel for saltwater electrolysis pools because salt electrolysis is very aggressive, not only for stainless steel and all pool technology but also for indoor metal outside the pool. If stainless steel must be used, we recommend stainless steel marked AISI – 316, but even this can rust under some conditions. Initially there will be spot corrosion and then surface corrosion.
6. Is it necessary to use filtration and chemicals at the same time?
To keep your water beautiful and clean, it is necessary to maintain the pool water chemically. The basic values to be monitored are pH and Cl. The pH value determines the acidity or alkalinity of the water.
The ideal pH of the pool water is 7 – 7.2.
7. Which chemicals are the most practical?
The most powerful and common swimming pool disinfection is chlorine in solid form (tablets) or in liquid form.
8. How to dose the chemicals?
You can dose tablet form with floating dispensers (floating on water level) or use semi-automatic solutions (feeder with manual regulation on the pipe between the filter and jets). The liquid form is usually dosed by automatic dosing stations or automatic pumps (Which measuring levels of chlorine, pH and others).
Don’t use a skimmer as a dosing solution; the tablet will dissolve even when filtration is in stand-by mode, leading to over-chlorination that will eat away the skimmer basket and other parts and equipment.
9. Water is dirty with algae. How do I clean it?
The solution is always the same. First you need to start filtration, then check pH and set the value between 6.8 – 7.2. Next over-chlorinate your pool water with chlorine granulate. You will need to rewash your filtration every day, and the process must be repeated until the water is clear.
10. How often You should change the sand in the filter?
You should change filter sand when the pressure on the manometer doesn’t drop after sand rewash. Sand in the filter can become worn-out and then loses its filtration functionality. This usually happens after 3-5 Years, depending on your exact specification.
